Geo Data Connector for Snowflake
Introduction
Welcome to the Geo Data Connector for Snowflake user guide.
Geo Data Connector is a Snowflake Native Application that discovers, explores, and ingests geospatial datasets from external sources into Snowflake tables. It connects to OGC web services — both traditional services (WFS, WMS, WMTS, WCS, CSW, WPS) and the modern OGC API standards (Features, Maps, Tiles, Coverages, Records, Processes) — handles data retrieval and processing automatically, and delivers the results as queryable Snowflake tables — eliminating the need for custom integration development.
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing, configuring, and using Geo Data Connector.
Data Responsibility
Geo Data Connector provides access to third-party data sources as a technical facilitator. You are responsible for reviewing and complying with any licensing terms or conditions that apply to the data you ingest. Where available, licensing information is displayed during discovery (see Exploring Data Sources).
Intended Audience
This guide is written for anyone who works with geospatial data in Snowflake:
- Data analysts and engineers
- GIS professionals
- IT administrators
Prerequisites
A basic understanding of geospatial data concepts and web applications is helpful but not required. The Getting Started tutorial walks through the complete workflow from first launch to querying ingested data.
