Dataset size could not be verified
Symptom: After toggling ingestion on for a dataset on the free tier, you see the message "Dataset size could not be verified — the free tier requires datasets with a known row count of 10,000 or fewer." and the toggle reverts to off.
Cause: Geo Data Connector checks the dataset's size before allowing a free-tier subscription. When the size information is not yet available — typically because you reached the dataset via a search result or an API call before Geo Data Connector had a chance to retrieve its details — the check cannot complete, and the subscription is rejected.
Resolution:
- Open the dataset's detail page by navigating to it directly: from Search Results, click the result row; from a service listing, click the dataset row.
- Wait for the page to finish loading — Geo Data Connector retrieves the dataset's full details at this point, including its row count.
- Try enabling ingestion again using the toggle on that page.
If the problem persists after completing these steps, the dataset may report more than 10,000 rows and cannot be subscribed on the free tier. Upgrade to the paid tier for unlimited rows.
Before contacting support
When contacting support, include:
- Your Public ID (find it at Settings → Application Information → Public ID).

General troubleshooting tips
- Refresh the page before assuming something is broken. The Subscriptions and Subscription Details screens do not auto-refresh; click the Refresh button to reload current status.
- Check the source service. If a subscription keeps failing, the data source may be temporarily unavailable. The health indicator (coloured dot) on the Subscriptions screen and Subscription Details page shows the current availability of each source.
- Check your tier limits. Many issues on the free tier (skipped runs, disabled toggles) are explained by the active subscription or daily run limits. See Tiers and Limits.
