Known Limitations

This page lists current limitations of Geo Data Connector that users should be aware of. This list reflects the current state of the product and will be updated as limitations are addressed.

Data retrieval

Row limit on free tier (10,000 rows per run) On the free tier, Geo Data Connector retrieves at most 10,000 rows from a dataset per run. Datasets with more than 10,000 rows reported by the source service cannot be subscribed. Upgrade to the paid tier for unlimited rows.

Not all datasets are retrievable Some datasets from supported service types cannot be retrieved due to non-standard configurations, access restrictions, or data formats that Geo Data Connector does not yet support. The Dataset Details page shows "Not available for retrieval" with a reason when a dataset cannot be subscribed. This is a per-dataset limitation, not a service-wide one — other datasets from the same service may be fully retrievable.

Column schema may not be available for all datasets For some datasets, the column schema (column names, types, descriptions) cannot be resolved from the source service before retrieval. Geo Data Connector notes this on the Dataset Details page. Retrieval may still be possible; the schema becomes apparent from the downloaded files.

Row counts may be estimated Row counts shown on the Dataset Details page are provided by the source service. Some services report estimated row counts (marked with ~). The actual number of rows retrieved may differ.

Discovery and exploration

Some services are slow to respond Discovery contacts remote services in real time. Services that are slow or temporarily under load may cause exploration to take longer than usual. If a service times out, try again — a fresh attempt often succeeds.

Some service URLs yield empty discovery results A URL that points to a specific service operation (rather than the service root) may return no results. Try the service's root or catalogue URL instead.

Cached discovery results Geo Data Connector caches discovery results to improve performance. If a data source was recently updated, discovery may show slightly stale information. Re-explore the URL to request a fresh result.

Subscriptions and scheduling

On-demand only on the free tier The free tier does not support recurring schedules (daily, weekly, monthly). Upgrade to the paid tier for recurring retrieval.

Daily run limit resets at midnight UTC The free tier's 10-runs-per-day limit resets at midnight UTC, not at your local midnight. The Settings screen shows the time remaining until reset.

Automatic retry limit When a run does not complete on the first attempt, Geo Data Connector retries up to 2 times. If all retries are exhausted, the subscription is marked FAILED and suspended. Resume it and run it again to try once more.

Downloading

Download links expire after approximately 12 hours Download links for completed runs are valid for approximately 12 hours. To get new links after expiry, run the subscription again.

API

PAT management is UI-only Personal Access Tokens can only be created and revoked through the web UI (Settings → Personal Access Tokens). The API cannot be used to manage PATs.

Billing and upgrade are UI-only Upgrading to the paid tier and managing billing are available only through the web UI. There is no API endpoint for these actions.

Rate limits The API is rate-limited at 60 requests per minute (Free) and 300 requests per minute (Paid). Exceeding the limit returns a 429 response with a Retry-After header.
