Step 4: Subscribe

Subscribing to a dataset tells Geo Data Connector to retrieve it for you. You enable the subscription with a toggle and choose how often you want it to run.

How to subscribe

On the Dataset Details page, look for the Ingestion controls in the top-right area of the page header.

1. Click the Ingestion toggle (currently showing OFF) to switch it to ON.

   Toggle the Ingestion switch to ON to create a subscription.

2. A schedule selector appears to the right of the toggle. Choose a schedule:

   Schedule	Behaviour
   On-demand (default)	Retrieves the dataset once now. You can re-run it at any time from the Subscriptions screen.
   Daily	Retrieves the dataset once every day. (paid tier only.)
   Weekly	Retrieves the dataset once every week. (paid tier only.)
   Monthly	Retrieves the dataset once every month. (paid tier only.)

   On the free tier, only On-demand is available. Selecting a recurring schedule requires upgrading. See Tiers and Limits.

3. Geo Data Connector creates the subscription and immediately starts the first retrieval run. You do not need to take any further action — the run starts automatically.

What happens after you subscribe

The toggle shows ON and a loading overlay briefly appears while the subscription is saved. The retrieval run starts in the background.

You can navigate to the Subscriptions screen at any time to check the status of the run.

Changing the schedule later

You can change the schedule of an active subscription directly from the Dataset Details page (if you navigate back to it) or from the Subscriptions screen.

Suspending or removing a subscription

Toggle the switch to OFF to suspend the subscription. It remains saved and can be re-enabled at any time. To delete it permanently, use the delete action on the Subscriptions screen.

Subscribing to just part of a dataset

The Ingestion toggle above always subscribes to a dataset's full extent. If you only need a smaller geographic area and/or a coarser resolution — for example, because the full dataset exceeds your tier's row limit — create a scoped subscription via the API instead. A scope picker in the web app is planned for a future release; scoped subscriptions created this way still appear on the Subscriptions screen like any other.

free tier limits

On the free tier:

• You can have up to 10 active subscriptions at a time. Suspending a subscription frees a slot.
• You can run up to 10 retrievals per day (resets at midnight UTC). If the daily limit is reached, new runs are deferred to the next day.
• Datasets with more than 10,000 rows cannot be subscribed on the free tier.

The tooltip on a disabled toggle explains which limit applies if you cannot create a new subscription.
